Listening to The Communist Manifesto on Librivox, with ads between chapters, seems very 2019
@SallyStrange Siezing the means of production, brought to you by MeUndies
@SallyStrange "...and now, a message from PayPal."
Subway in this case 😭😭😭
@SallyStrange At least it's somewhat closer to owning the means of production. I guess. But wait...well, ok
@SallyStrange otoh, if we all decided to work for Subway at once...something would happen. I'm not sure what that something is, but it would definitely occur.
More 2019 things
@SallyStrange "Seizing the means of anxiety and depression, sponsored by <food shop>"
@SallyStrange u can read the communist manifesto without ads if you go on marxists.org or the library
Yup, but I'm listening not reading at the moment. Trying to clean the apartment and learn at the same time. Perhaps a foolishly ambitious endeavor.
@SallyStrange Librivox has ads now? That's disappointing.
Yeah, I'm new to it. They didn't use to? Sadly, the reviews have a few complaints about people having paid for the ad-free version and still getting ads.
@SallyStrange It seems kind of shitty to the volunteers to monetize their work.
I haven't listened to anything on Librivox for a couple of years but I thought it was a kind of project-Gutenberg of the audio book world. Didn't realize they were now trying to cash in.
