I know #pride month is a corporate rainbow abomination &c. &c., but this is the first pride month of my life in which I've had a flag to fly, so here it is 🙂
For my #introduction post (finally!), something I wrote in my journal last year:
"[At the start of the pandemic,] I was a heterosexual neurotypical Christian who liked a drink and had three sons. Now I'm a bisexual ADHD Quaker teetotaller with two sons and a daughter. And two cats."
Anyway, I'm 49yo, live in London, married, the children are 21, 18 and 14. Day job = lawyer. Fervent supporter of trans rights. Heartily recommend therapy (and not waiting till you're 48 to start). Pronouns: he/him
Getting increasingly difficult to ignore the fact that I'm feeling fatigued and brain-fogged. Did I mention that our daughter has covid…?

Rise and Shine. The World is Doomed.
I'm not a fatalist. Of course, I have my feelings about today, but hopelessness is not one of them. White people have been trying to take us out for a while, and they have failed and instigated their demise in the process.
We do not live in the 50s and 60s, even though old white men and their tokens are trying to legislate like it is. Reactive policy based on hate inherently acknowledges they are terrified of the direction the world is going and will do everything in their power to stop it.
But the world has changed, and it was and is inevitable. No doubt these hateful fools will fight, but fascism and hate are the best they have, and we see the best they can do.
Keep the pressure up. Keep building community. They don't have any new ideas, so the bulk of their strategy is to attack our hope to make us feel like it's hopeless.
But it's not. Not even close.
Important and helpful post from Rabbi Danya Ruttenberg on how best to support people needing abortion care (and why they don’t need amateurish White Saviourism): https://www.instagram.com/p/CfRxNy7rnPw/?igshid=MDJmNzVkMjY=
was talking w max the other day about how many arguments for accepting trans people are actually just kinda apologising for trans people existing. if you start from the belief that being trans is good then it changes everything
@jwildeboer Twitter is also full of “progressive” Christians calling SCOTUS “Pharisees”, despite the fact that many Jewish rabbis have been outspoken in their defence of Roe, insisting that Jewish law *demands* that pregnant people have access to abortion when they need it. The idea that it might be Christianity itself that’s the problem – that the call is coming from inside the house – doesn’t seem to register with these people.
It’s things like this. They could (and should) have painted the judges as catholic bishops or cardinals. Instead they decided to point at „the others“. This is what I mean. The real reason here (christian faith based extremism) gets replaced by Muslim stereotypes.
Congratulations to O Brother, Where Art Thou? on winning the 2000 #MovieBowl, defeating Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon *in overtime* by a score of 76-75
Gosh. Waiting for @derek to complete the stewards’ enquiry on that one.
