It's incredible how much rot there is in some major corporations. They only stay standing because of their sheer size, they can afford to throw millions into a hole and burn it for things that will never see the light of day because of bureaucracy and office politics.

I've mentionned this anecdote a few times already but there were that one time in the GDQ where:

- We just received a donation of 10 grands!

- Yeah! *hyped public*

- From Notch.

Covid has taught me three things:

1. Our economy collapses as soon as it stops selling useless stuff to over indebted people

2. It is perfectly possible to reduce pollution

3. The lowest paid people in the country are essential to its functioning

youtube removing community captions is so fucked up honestly. it's a massive fuck you to those with hearing issue, language processioning issues like some can have with autism, pretty much all non english speakers or those in the process of learning which media immersion is an amazing way to learn I may add. and there's literally no reason to do it than google doing what they always do, killing off services and features because fuck you

I think meditation may be going back into my daily routine. I'm letting stress overwhelm me and losing focus as a result. Need a dedicated block of "destress" that doesn't involve brain stimulation like games.

These people took the floppy controller used in the BBC Micro, an Intel 8271, and set about finding out how it worked. In the course of that, they discovered it's actually a dual core processor, with over 3x the transistor count of a 6502.

Then they dumped the ROM by visual inspection of the micrographs of a decapped 8271, and reverse engineered the instruction set, with a full disassembly available.

There's an obvious problem with the emoji search on my phone, as one of these suggestions is completely inappropriate for the query.

Koalas are marsupials, not bears. Don't people know anything?

It really hurts to see fellow software engineers make poor decisions or be outright negligent. I do my best to give the benefit of the doubt but after what I've seen in the last week, I've run out of benefits.
