My primary problems with Mastodon (the software, as opposed to the communities) are:
* no mark-up support
* Eugen is, to my knowledge, a straight prep
Eugen should at least have to be like a cool punk antifascist or something to continue being project lead imo
Eugen needs to give us opt-in federation, control over who can reply to posts, markdown support, and longer character counts.

Admins can change the character count though can't they?

Live Journal had this in 1998 and Dreamwidth improved on it in 2008, so there's no reason except some dude on GitHub going "but that's not in the activity stream spec."
